Richard Valdez

Transition Home Supervisor

Richard was born in Anaheim, CA and spent his childhood moving around Southern California and a small town in Indiana. When he moved to Utah, he immediately fell in love with the scenic beauty and amazing trails. Richard enjoys hiking, gaming, writing and good conversation. He spent his first four years in Utah working at a drug and alcohol rehab where he taught life skills and release and reintegration. He later worked at Clearfield Job Corps where he oversaw a dorm of 68 students and implemented a student government and dorm policies. He brought his talents to Waypoint Academy in 2013 where he takes a great deal of pride in his work and the accomplishments of his students. For Richard, there is nothing like watching a student overcome a barrier and knowing he played a part. Richard began working at the WayPoint Transitional Living House the day it opened and currently works as the TL House supervisor.
